Which PlayStation to Buy for GTA 6 in Pakistan: Slim or Pro?
Both run GTA 6 — so the choice is everything else. PS5 Slim vs Pro compared, live Pakistani prices, and why importing saves most on the cheaper console.

GTA 6 arrives on 19 November 2026, and for most people in Pakistan it is the reason a PlayStation is being bought this year at all. Which leaves two questions: Slim or Pro? And should you buy it here at all?
The second question turns out to matter far more than the first, and the answer is not what most people expect.
First, the GTA 6 part, because it is simpler than people think: both consoles run it. There is no version of the game locked to the Pro, no feature you miss on a Slim, and nothing about GTA 6 that requires the more expensive machine. Sony's own minimum for the game is a PS5 — any PS5. So the choice comes down to everything else, which is what the rest of this covers.
The short answer
Buy the PS5 Slim. For almost everyone in Pakistan the Pro is not worth the difference — and once you add the disc drive it is not even close.
And if anyone you know is travelling back from abroad, ask them to bring it. This is the single biggest saving available to a Pakistani console buyer today: roughly Rs 60,000–75,000 on a Slim, and Rs 75,000–125,000 on a Pro. We will go through exactly how and why below, including the part about customs.
What actually separates them
| PS5 Slim | PS5 Pro | |
|---|---|---|
| CPU | 8-core AMD Zen 2 | The same 8-core Zen 2 (minor clock boost only) |
| GPU compute units | 36 | 60 |
| Graphics performance | ~10.3 TFLOPS | ~16.7 TFLOPS |
| Rasterised rendering | Baseline | ~45% faster |
| Ray tracing | Baseline | 2–3× faster |
| Memory | 16GB GDDR6 | 16GB GDDR6 |
| Memory bandwidth | 448 GB/s | 576 GB/s |
| Storage | 1TB | 2TB |
| AI upscaling (PSSR) | No | Yes |
| Wi-Fi | Wi-Fi 6 | Wi-Fi 7 |
| Disc drive | Yes (disc model) | No — sold separately |
The Pro is a genuinely more powerful machine. That is not in question. The question is whether you will see it.
PSSR is the interesting part — Sony's AI upscaling, which renders at a lower resolution and reconstructs a sharper image, in the same spirit as DLSS on PC. It is the reason the Pro can often give you high frame rates and high fidelity instead of making you choose between the two "performance" and "quality" modes.
Here is the honest caveat. All of that shows up on a large, high-quality 4K screen with good HDR. On a 1080p TV, or a budget 4K panel of the kind most Pakistani living rooms actually have, a lot of the difference quietly evaporates. You are paying for headroom your screen cannot display.
Will the Pro run GTA 6 at 60fps?
Almost certainly not — and if GTA 6 is the reason you are buying, this is the most important paragraph on the page.
Digital Foundry's Richard Leadbetter was asked this exact question by IGN. The answer was blunt:
"Grand Theft Auto games have always run complex simulations that push the CPU hard. The PS5 Pro uses the same CPU as the PS5, and it would be extremely challenging to hit 60fps if the base PS5 version is targeting 30fps."
And the line that matters most: "This isn't a GPU problem, it's a CPU problem."
Look back at the table. Every single thing the Pro improves — compute units, teraflops, memory bandwidth, ray tracing, PSSR — is graphics. The processor is the same one that is in the Slim. And a Grand Theft Auto game has always been bottlenecked by simulation rather than pixels: traffic, crowds, physics, AI, a city full of things behaving independently. That work runs on the CPU, and the Pro does not have a better one.
The realistic expectation is 30fps, with a 40fps mode on a 120Hz display more plausible than 60. In Digital Foundry's words, expect "higher quality visuals, but likely still running at similar frame rates."
So be clear about what the extra Rs 135,000–200,000 actually buys you: the Pro will make GTA 6 look better. It will not make it play smoother. If you were paying the premium expecting 60fps, that is the assumption to drop before you spend the money — not after.

The disc drive problem
The PS5 Pro does not include a disc drive. You buy it separately, and in Pakistan it is both an extra cost and genuinely hard to find.
That matters here — though not for GTA 6 itself. Worth being precise, because this trips people up: GTA 6 ships with no disc at all. Rockstar confirmed the "physical" edition is a box containing a download code, so a disc drive buys you nothing on this particular game. How to actually buy GTA 6 in Pakistan covers what that means, including a region-lock trap on boxed PlayStation codes.
Where the drive still earns its keep is everything else. Physical copies of other PS5 games are frequently cheaper here than the digital store, and Pakistan has a genuinely active used-disc market — buy, finish, resell. A digital licence is worth nothing when you are done with it.
So the Pro's real price is the console plus a disc drive, unless you are content buying every game digitally for the life of the machine.
What they cost in Pakistan
Live prices on Harib today:
| Model | Condition | Price |
|---|---|---|
| PS5 Slim 1TB | Like new | from Rs 175,000 |
| PS5 Slim, disc edition | Used, good | Rs 185,000 |
| PS5 Slim Digital | New | Rs 240,000 |
| PS5 Pro 2TB | New, retail | Rs 325,000–375,000 |
| PS5 Pro disc drive | Sold separately | Rs 40,000–45,000 |
A warning about the Pro. Its price here has moved fast — retail jumped roughly Rs 40,000–60,000 in a matter of weeks on currency and duty pressure, and Rs 375,000 is now common for a brand-new unit. You will still see Pro listings advertised nearer Rs 275,000; check the date on them before you get excited, because several were posted months ago and the seller may no longer honour that price. A genuinely current Pro under Rs 300,000 is an excellent buy. Anything far below that is worth verifying carefully before you pay.
See every PlayStation listed right now, cheapest first — or narrow it to new units only, like-new units, or everything under Rs 200,000.
Now the part that actually saves you money
Sony raised PS5 prices worldwide on 2 April 2026, blaming a surge in memory chip costs. Here is what the consoles cost at official US pricing after that increase, converted at roughly Rs 278 to the dollar:
| Model | US price | ≈ In rupees | In Pakistan | You save |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PS5 Digital | $599.99 | ~Rs 167,000 | Rs 240,000 | ~Rs 73,000 |
| PS5 Disc | $649.99 | ~Rs 181,000 | ~Rs 260,000 | ~Rs 79,000 |
| PS5 Pro | $899.99 | ~Rs 250,000 | Rs 325,000–375,000 | ~Rs 75,000–125,000 |
Read that last column carefully.
Every model carries a local markup of roughly 30% or more — and in rupee terms it is by far the largest on the Pro.
A PS5 Pro costs about Rs 250,000 abroad and sells here for Rs 325,000 at the keenest importers, Rs 375,000 at ordinary retail. That is a gap of up to Rs 125,000 on a single item — and it does not yet include the disc drive, which is another Rs 40,000–45,000 in Pakistan and considerably less abroad.
So the more expensive the console you want, the more you have to gain by not buying it here. If you are set on a Pro, having someone carry one back is worth more than any other decision in this article.
(US prices exclude state sales tax of up to about 10%, so treat these as a realistic Rs 60,000 on a Slim and Rs 70,000–110,000 on a Pro. It is still comfortably the largest saving available to you.)
So: ask someone to bring it
If you have family or friends in the US, UK, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Canada or anywhere else — ask them. A console is light, it fits in a suitcase, and the saving is a month's salary for many people. This is the most under-used advantage Pakistani buyers have.
A few practical things that make it work:
The power supply is universal. Every PS5 runs on 100–240V, 50/60Hz. A console bought in the US works perfectly on Pakistani mains — you need a plug adapter, not a voltage converter. Check the sticker underneath if you want to confirm.
Discs are region-free, but codes are not. A US or UK console plays discs bought in Pakistan and vice versa, and the console hardware itself has no region lock. Digital purchases are bound to your account's region, and boxed download codes — which is how GTA 6 ships — are bound to the market the box was sold in. Our GTA 6 buying guide covers both.
There is no PTA registration for consoles. The DIRBS system that taxes imported phones applies to phones only. A console has no IMEI to register and nothing to block. This trips people up constantly — it is genuinely not a concern.
Check the local price first. Prices differ between countries, and the April 2026 increase landed everywhere. The US figures above are a reference point, not a promise about Dubai or Jeddah. Have whoever is travelling check the actual local price before they buy.
About customs — the honest version
Pakistan's baggage rules exist precisely for this situation. Electronics that are clearly for personal use, in reasonable quantity, are normally cleared as personal effects. One console, carried by one traveller, for their own use, is exactly that.
What changes the picture is anything that looks commercial:
- Two or three sealed consoles in one bag reads as an import, not personal baggage, and will be treated accordingly.
- Allowances are per person, not per family. Pooling is not recognised — one traveller carrying devices for four relatives can expect the extras to be treated as taxable.
- An open box helps, because a console that is unboxed and obviously in use looks like what it is: someone's personal item. A shrink-wrapped stack does not.
To be clear about what we are and are not saying: this is not a trick, and we are not suggesting anyone misdeclare anything. If you are asked what it is, say what it is. The point is simply that one console for your own use is a personal effect under the rules, and bringing multiple sealed units is not. Clearance is ultimately at the officer's discretion, so plan for the possibility of paying something.
The one real trade-off is warranty. An imported console has no Pakistani warranty, and Sony's coverage is regional. If it fails, you are relying on third-party repair shops. For most people the Rs 70,000 saving is worth that risk — but if you want a warranty you can walk into a shop and claim, buy locally and accept the premium. That is a legitimate choice, not a foolish one.
Which one should you buy?
Buy the PS5 Slim disc edition if you are a normal human being with a normal television. It plays every PS5 game, including GTA 6 in November, it takes cheap M.2 storage later, and the disc drive saves you money on every other game you buy — GTA 6 itself is download-only either way. This is the right answer for the overwhelming majority of people in Pakistan.
Buy a used or like-new Slim if the budget is tight. Like-new units start around Rs 175,000 — a Rs 65,000 saving against a new Digital, and you get a disc drive out of it too.
Buy the PS5 Pro if you own a genuinely good 4K TV with HDR and 120Hz, you play graphically demanding games constantly, and the extra money genuinely does not matter to you. It is the best console experience available in Pakistan, and the 2TB drive is a real convenience given how large modern games have become. But be clear about the bill: Rs 375,000 plus Rs 40,000–45,000 for the disc drive puts you past Rs 415,000 — more than twice a like-new Slim, for a game that plays the same on both. If you want a Pro, this is the one to have someone bring from abroad.
Do not buy the Digital edition at Rs 240,000. It costs more than a disc-capable Slim, and it permanently removes your cheapest route to buying games in this country. It is the worst value on the list.
Still deciding between PlayStation and Xbox entirely? We compared them properly here. And if GTA 6 is the reason you are buying at all, the cheapest way to play it works through a different set of maths — one where Xbox wins on price.
One last thing
We built Harib for exactly this kind of decision.
Buying electronics in Pakistan has always involved too much guesswork — unclear pricing, no way to compare honestly, and no easy way to tell a careful seller from a careless one. A console is a lot of money. You should be able to see what the market actually charges, compare condition honestly, and know who you are dealing with before you hand over cash.
That is the whole idea: transparent prices you can check against each other, sellers whose history you can see, and a community of people here who genuinely care about this stuff — gamers, tech enthusiasts, and the good shopkeepers who have been doing honest business for years and deserve to be found.
If you are buying, browse what is listed today. If you are selling, list it and let the market come to you. Either way, harib.com.pk is built for people who want to do this properly.
US prices reflect Sony's official pricing after the 2 April 2026 increase and exclude local sales tax. Rupee conversions use approximately Rs 278 to the dollar and will move. Pakistani prices are live Harib listings at the time of writing and change as items sell. Customs treatment is at the discretion of officials at the port of entry; nothing here is legal or tax advice.
