The Cheapest Way to Play GTA 6 in Pakistan — And the Catch Nobody Mentions

The cheapest console that runs GTA 6 in Pakistan right now is a used Xbox Series S at Rs 90,000. The cheapest PlayStation that runs it is a PS5 Slim at Rs 175,000.

That is an Rs 85,000 gap for the same game, and most people will stop reading right there and buy the Series S. Before you do, there is a catch that almost nobody is talking about, and it is not about graphics.

It is about storage

GTA 6's install size has not been published by Rockstar. Current estimates from people tracking it put the game at 150–200GB, plus a 30–50GB day-one patch — call it 200–250GB once it is actually sitting on your console and playable.

Now look at what each console actually gives you. Advertised capacity is not usable capacity; the operating system takes a large bite:

On a Series S, GTA 6 eats roughly two-thirds of the entire console. You are left with about 114GB — enough for FIFA, or Call of Duty, or a couple of smaller games. Not all three.

The Series S is not a bad console. It is a one-game console once GTA 6 lands on it.

Can you just add storage?

Yes, but this is where the two platforms diverge sharply, and it is the single most important thing to understand before choosing.

On PlayStation, you open a flap and fit a standard M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 drive — the same kind that goes in a PC. It has to have a heatsink. Prices are ordinary PC-part prices: a Samsung 990 PRO 2TB is Rs 98,999, and 1TB drives run well below that. Games install to it and run from it normally.

On Xbox Series S and X, you cannot. Series games must run from the internal drive or from a proprietary expansion card, which is made by one company, priced accordingly, and rarely discounted. A USB hard drive will work, but only as an archive: you can store Series X|S games on it, and you must copy them back to internal storage before you can play them. For a 250GB game that means a long wait every time you want to switch.

So the real cost of the cheap console is not Rs 90,000. It is Rs 90,000 plus an expansion card, or Rs 90,000 plus accepting that GTA 6 is basically the only modern game living on it.

The actual maths

Here is what each route costs to get GTA 6 running, using live prices:

Read the second row carefully. Once you fix the Series S storage problem, the price gap to a used Series X mostly disappears — and the Series X is a far more capable machine with 802GB usable and no expansion tax.

That is the trap. The Series S looks like it saves Rs 85,000. If GTA 6 is genuinely the only game you will play on it, it does. If it is not, you will spend most of that gap solving a problem the Series X never had.

So which one should you buy?

Buy the used Series S at Rs 90,000 if GTA 6 is the point and you are not building a game library. You have a budget, you want in on launch night, and you are content to delete it when you are done. This is a completely valid plan and the cheapest legitimate entry into the game in Pakistan.

Buy the used Series X at Rs 155,000 if you want a console rather than a GTA 6 machine. Best storage-per-rupee on this list, no expansion card ever, and it plays everything at full quality.

Buy the PS5 Slim at Rs 175,000 if you care about PlayStation exclusives, or you want cheap storage expansion later. The M.2 slot is worth more than it looks — in two years, adding 2TB to a PS5 will cost less than adding 1TB to an Xbox.

Buy the PS5 Pro at Rs 275,000 if you have a 4K TV and the budget genuinely does not matter. It is the best-looking way to play GTA 6 in Pakistan in November. It is also Rs 185,000 more than the cheapest way, for the same story.

Two things that catch people out

Digital vs Disc — not a factor for this game. GTA 6 ships with no disc at all; Rockstar confirmed the "physical" edition is a box containing a download code. So a Digital console loses you nothing on GTA 6 specifically. A disc drive still has value for the rest of the PS5 library and Pakistan's active used-game market, but do not pay extra for one on this game's account.
