The GTA 6 Readiness Checklist: What to Buy Before 19 November

GTA 6 lands on 19 November 2026. That is close enough to plan for and far enough away to plan well — which matters, because the things that ruin launch night in Pakistan are never the game. They are a full hard drive, a dead controller, an internet connection that cannot pull 200GB, and a store account you cannot pay into.

Here is everything worth sorting out before the day, roughly in the order it will bite you.

1. The console — sort this first, and sort it early

Obvious, but the timing is not. Console prices in Pakistan tend to climb into a launch this size and climb again after it, when demand is proven and stock is thin. The quiet weeks of September and October are usually the best window of the year to buy.

If you have not chosen yet, the cheapest way to play GTA 6 works through the storage maths that decides it. If you are a PC gamer wondering whether to bother at all, start here instead.

Live prices today:

Do not buy a PS4 or Xbox One. GTA 6 does not run on them. Here is the full list of consoles that cannot play it.

2. Storage — the one most people get wrong

Estimates put GTA 6 at 150–200GB, plus a 30–50GB day-one patch. Rockstar has not confirmed a number, but plan for 250GB and you will not be caught out.

Check your free space now, not in November. Settings → Storage on either console. If you are under 250GB free, you have a decision to make, and you want to make it while drives are in stock rather than during launch week.

  • On PS5, expansion is easy and cheap: any M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 drive with a heatsink. A Samsung 990 PRO 2TB is Rs 98,999; 1TB drives cost considerably less and are plenty. Games run directly from it.
  • On Xbox Series S/X, you need the proprietary expansion card — there is no cheap alternative. A USB drive can only archive Series games; you must copy them back to internal storage to play, which for a 250GB game is a long, dull wait.
  • The free option: delete things. Go through your library now and clear what you have finished. Most people are carrying 100GB of games they will never open again.

3. Internet — take this seriously

A 200GB+ download is a genuinely large ask on Pakistani home internet. On a 10 Mbps connection that is roughly two days of continuous downloading. On 25 Mbps, about 18 hours. On a good 100 Mbps fibre line, around four and a half hours.

Three things worth doing:

  • Work out your real speed now, not your advertised speed. Run a test at night when your area is congested, because that is when you will actually be downloading.
  • Check whether your package has a fair-usage cap. Several Pakistani ISPs throttle heavily after a monthly threshold, and 250GB will trip most of them. Find out before launch day, not at 60% progress.
  • Consider preloading. Digital pre-orders usually unlock the download several days early. That is the single easiest way to avoid the launch-night queue — and on a slow line, it is the difference between playing on the 19th and playing on the 21st.

And no, buying the boxed copy will not save you. GTA 6 has no disc — Rockstar confirmed the "physical" edition is a box containing a download code. Boxed and digital buyers download exactly the same ~250GB. There is no way around it, which makes preloading from 12 November the only real defence on a slow line.

4. The game itself

$79.99 standard, $99.99 Ultimate — roughly Rs 22,000 and Rs 28,000 at today's rate, before whatever your chosen store region does to that number. Pre-orders opened on 25 June 2026.

Buying it in Pakistan is genuinely more complicated than it should be, because there is no PlayStation Store Pakistan region at all. We wrote a full guide to it — read it before you put money on any gift card, because region-matching is the part people get wrong and it is not easily undone.

5. Controllers

A second controller is not for GTA 6 — it is single-player — but a working controller is. If yours has stick drift or a tired battery, replace it now while you can shop calmly.

Drift is the common one: the camera creeps when you are not touching the stick. It gets worse, never better, and it will make a 60-hour game miserable. A DualSense Edge is Rs 60,000 at the premium end; standard controllers are far less. Whatever you do, buy before November — controller prices move with console prices.

6. Sound

More than any other genre, an open-world Rockstar game lives on its audio: the radio stations, the ambient city, the mix. Playing GTA 6 through TV speakers is like watching a film on mute.

A headset is also the practical answer for anyone gaming late at night in a shared house, which in Pakistan is most people. A SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7P is Rs 62,000 at the good end, and there are cheaper options. Even a decent wired pair beats built-in speakers by a wide margin.

7. The screen

The thing people over-buy. You do not need a new TV for GTA 6.

What actually helps, in order: a 120Hz panel with HDMI 2.1 if you are on a PS5 Pro or Series X and want the performance mode; VRR to smooth out frame dips in a dense open world; and decent HDR, which matters more than raw resolution for how a Rockstar sunset looks.

What does not help: 8K, and any TV whose "120Hz" is interpolation rather than a real panel refresh. On a Series S, none of this matters much — the console is the limit, not the screen. Browse monitors or TVs if you are genuinely due an upgrade, but do not let a Rs 200,000 TV jump the queue ahead of storage.

8. Clear your schedule, and your old games

Two last practical ones.

Sell what you are not using. Old consoles and games hold their value best before a big launch, not after. If you are upgrading, selling the old box now funds a real chunk of the new one — and there are already pre-owned PS5 games from Rs 8,000 moving on Harib, so the market is active.

Book the time. 19 November 2026 is a Thursday.

The short version

Do thisBy when
Buy the consoleSeptember–October, before prices climb
Check free space, plan for 250GBNow
Buy storage if shortOctober, while stock is normal
Test your real internet speed and check for capsNow
Pre-order and preloadEarly November
Replace a drifting controllerAny time before November
Sort a headsetAny time before November
Sell your old consoleNow, while prices are high

Nothing on this list is expensive except the console. All of it is more annoying to fix on 19 November than it is today.
